The visible difference between orthodontic braces and Invisalign treatment is pretty clear – one treatment puts brackets on your teeth, and one treatment, uses a series of clear, removable aligners.
However, you might be wondering which option is best for your child? Does one treatment option straighten their teeth and align their bite better than the other? Is one faster than the other? And most importantly, does Invisalign treatment cost more than braces?
Let’s answer those questions!
Invisalign Treatment Costs the Same as Braces
Great news! At Orthodontic Associates, our Invisalign treatment pricing is the same as orthodontic braces treatment! We believe both treatment options are great choices, and we don’t want cost to be the reason why you choose one over the other.
Invisalign Treatment Gives the Same Results as Braces
Whether your child wears braces or Invisalign clear aligners, their teeth will straighten, their bite will align, and they will love their new smile! Both options correct your child’s smile in approximately the same amount of time by slowly moving their teeth into their new positions.
What are the differences between Braces and Invisalign Treatment?
With braces, we place brackets on your child’s teeth connected by a small, flexible wire that slowly moves their teeth into position. Every 6-8 weeks, we tighten and adjust the braces to continue moving the teeth. During treatment, it is vital for kids to brush their teeth and in between their brackets several times a day after meals to maintain good oral hygiene. With braces, your child will need to stay away from certain chewy and hard foods like nuts, bagels, gum, hard candies, corn on the cob, apples and more.
Invisalign treatment uses a series of removable, custom clear aligners that connect to tooth-colored attachments on specific teeth. Every 1-2 weeks, your child will switch to a new set of aligners that gradually move their teeth. Although the aligners are removable for meals, snacks and drinks, patients must wear the aligners 22 hours a day. Teeth and aligners must be brushed after eating or drinking anything besides water. There are no food restrictions with Invisalign treatment, because the aligners can be removed to eat and drink whatever you want!
So, Which One is Best for My Child?
After getting to know you and your child, your board-certified orthodontist at one of our offices in the Oklahoma City area will recommend their professional opinion on the best treatment option. The choice often depends on the level of difficulty, the child’s personality and personal preference.
At the end of the day, there isn’t really a wrong choice! We are here to help your child love their smile no matter which orthodontic treatment is chosen.
