Dial 988 to get help now

988 is the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, a direct nationwide number for anyone in need.

“The Oklahoma State Department of Mental Health (ODMHSAS) has taken great strides to improve the entire crisis continuum across our state. Whereas previous suicide hotlines were dedicated solely to suicide-related concerns, the 988 Mental Health Lifeline will address any mental health concern, including suicidality. 988 also serves as an access point to the greater Crisis Continuum, including mobile crisis units and transportation for those experiencing mental health concerns that would otherwise be unable to access services,” said Gary Shepherd, Prevention Program, OK State Department.

Get the Facts

Suicide is a public health problem and leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide can also be prevented – more investment in suicide prevention, education, and research will prevent the untimely deaths of thousands of Americans each year.

In Oklahoma, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-24. Youth who are contemplating suicide frequently give warning signs. Do not be afraid to ask about suicidal thoughts. Never take warning signs lightly or promise to keep them secret. Recent stats recorded that 71% of communities did not have enough mental health providers to serve residents in 2021, according to federal guidelines and that over five times as many people died by suicide in 2019 than in alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. In Oklahoma alone, there were 869 reported deaths by suicide per 100,000 population.

Bullying Bites

One in five children in America ages 12-18 experiences bullying annually. Of those bullied, teeth was ranked as the number one feature targeted, according to a study published by the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

At Orthodontic Associates, we are on a mission to make a positive impact on youth mental health in Oklahoma. In an act of solidarity, the American Associates of Orthodontics (AAO), in partnership with Stand for the Silent, and Orthodontic Associates challenges you to take stand against bullying with us.

Heroes in Waiting

Heroes In Waiting exists to ensure the mental wellness of children and to empower them to be peace-builders in a changing world. They do this by equipping kids with anti-bullying and peace-building resources that provide the knowledge and courage to help them become heroes in their own communities and create real, positive change. The Heroes In Waiting free, 12-lesson curriculum goes beyond anti-bullying to incorporate current trauma-informed and research-based best practices to meet children’s core needs of safety and belonging, to help them realize their unique, full potential, and grow into healthy adults. They also provide content and resources for parents and caregivers.

Mental disorders can begin in childhood. Examples include anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, depression and other mood disorders, eating disorders, and Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Without treatment, these mental health conditions can prevent children from reaching their full potential. Many adults who seek mental health treatment reflect on the impact of mental disorders on their childhood and wish they had received help sooner.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

How do I know if my child is ready for orthodontic treatment?

That’s our job! We’ll evaluate their smile, growth, and bite to determine the perfect time to start! The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a child’s smile being first evaluated at age 7.

Most kids do not start at that age, but regular monitoring can help us determine the best time to start braces or catch early problems.

My child isn’t bothered by their crooked teeth. Should we still come in?

Yes! Some orthodontic problems aren’t obvious until they’re evaluated. An early exam helps us know the best timing - even if treatment isn’t needed yet.

Celebrating 9 years with Clinical Lead Misty!

"I truly love what I do. Every day, I have the opportunity to work alongside an incredible team and care for amazing patients, and I don’t take that for granted. While creating beautiful smiles is rewarding, what means the most to me is watching our patients grow in confidence throughout their orthodontic journey. Seeing someone smile more freely, become more outgoing, and feel proud of themselves is an incredible experience. Knowing I’ve played a small part in that transformation is why I love coming to work each day."

Amber S.
Dr Archer and his team are great. They’ve been very kind at my visits and honest about my treatment plan.
Sherry D.
Fast, Friendly and Efficient! Superb staff and excellent communication. If I could give more stars ⭐️ I would. Highly recommend!
Rebekah P.
Amazing group of people! They are so thoughtful and make my son feel so comfortable in an orthodontist setting!
Phil M.
My first adjustment left me a little sore, but the office gave me practical advice that made recovery much easier. Since then, every visit has gone smoothly. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about patient comfort.
Hung N.
I have been under the great care of Orthodontic from Dr. Poore for many years now, Dr. Poore and his wonderful, friendly, polite and very professional staff providing the best services rendered, greeted me with a smile when I come in and a word of Thank on my way out., thus making my visits very comfortable knowing I am in good hands. Marguerite N.
Steven S.
I appreciate how comfortable they make the entire process feel. Even when I had concerns about soreness after an adjustment, someone took the time to explain what was normal and how to manage it. That extra attention made a big difference and helped me stay confident in the treatment.
Hicham M.
We couldn't be happier with our experience with Orthodontic Associates on Saints! My daughter just finished her treatment with traditional braces, and the results are absolutely amazing. From the very first visit, the staff made us feel comfortable and at ease. They're wonderful with kids, which made a huge difference since she was a little nervous at the start. Every step of the process was clearly explained, so we always knew what to expect and never felt left in the dark. We highly recommend this office to any parent looking for an orthodontist who will treat your child with patience, skill, and kindness.
Kimberly Morris S.
Dr Archer & his entire staff are very kind. I really appreciate his help making me a new retainer. Many Thanks!
Anna R.
2 kids in and starting on the 3rd - One went braces and the other invisalign and both have been happy with their experiences and results. Thank you!
Sid H.
Very honest with me. Told me what might work best for me even though It might mean going back to my dentist.
