Katy Long had braces with us when she eleven years old, nearly 20 years ago. Like many young adults, Katy stopped wearing her retainer every night, life got busy and her teeth quickly shifted out of alignment. She is now with us again to get her smile back, and wearing Invisalign clear aligners! We think Katy is pretty cool, and we want you to hear about her experience with Invisalign treatment so far!
OA: Hi Katy! What are you up to these days?
Katy: I’m a marketing and communications writer at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City. When I’m not working or writing, you can find me hanging out at home with my husband and our Boston Terrier, Bitsy. I also love to bake, garden, and hand letter, and I’m an avid reader and bibliophile.
How has your experience with our office been this time?
Coming back to Orthodontic Associates for Invisalign treatment was a no-brainer. I love everything about OA: the incredible staff, the efficient appointments, and the variety of customized treatment options. I truly look forward to every appointment! I appreciate being able to do the majority of my Invisalign treatment at home with the virtual monitoring program, and I’m so impressed with the results already, even though I’m about halfway through treatment.
How did you feel about your smile before treatment?
Before starting Invisalign treatment, there were a couple of teeth that had shifted and bothered me. I also noticed it was getting more difficult to floss because I had such tight contacts on my lower teeth. These weren’t huge issues, but they made me want to pursue treatment to take care of my teeth moving forward. When I look at photos of my smile before treatment, I definitely notice the teeth that were out of place!
What is Invisalign treatment like for you so far?
Invisalign treatment has been a dream! It’s so simple and effective, and I have really enjoyed the treatment process. Compared to traditional braces, Invisalign aligners haven’t been painful, and it’s been rewarding to progress to new aligners and see the transformation each time. At first, I was worried wearing the clear aligners would interfere with my daily life, especially having to remove my aligners at a restaurant or cleaning them on the go, but they have been a breeze to maintain no matter what I’m doing.
Invisalign treatment has been much easier than I anticipated, and much more flexible, too. They really are undetectable in daily activities, and I find myself recommending them to everyone.
What was your experience like with our virtual services during COVID this last year?
The virtual smile monitoring is one of the coolest parts of my treatment. I have been so thankful for an option that allows me to minimize in-person appointments so I can safely continue treatment at home, and it has been so easy to do. I love getting a reminder to complete my scan in the evening, because I know when I wake up, I’ll have a message about whether I can progress to my next set of aligners or wait a little longer. I’m grateful that OA prioritizes patient safety and cutting-edge technology so I can have the smile of my dreams under the best possible circumstances.
How do you feel about your smile now?
Even though I’m only about halfway through my Invisalign treatment, I already see a big transformation in my smile. Not only are my problem teeth back where they should be, but flossing is so much easier now, and my bite aligns much better. I’m thrilled with the process and results, and I can’t want to see how everything looks when treatment is finished!
What would you say to others considering orthodontic treatment?
If you’re considering orthodontic treatment at OA, do it! Their customized treatment plans offer options for every smile goal and budget.
