My name is Bethany, and I work as a records technician in the Orthodontic Associates East Edmond office. A records technician is one of the first to meet and interact with you and your family when you come in for your free smile consultation. During your first appointment, I get to know you, gather x-rays, photos of your smile, and then, a digital 3D scan of your smile with our iTero scanners.

I have been with Orthodontic Associates since 2020. When I am not taking pictures of your gorgeous, transitioning smile, you can either find me at the gym lifting weights or at a taco truck with my family!

What brought you to Orthodontic Associates?

I was always scared of the dentist and orthodontist as a child. I wanted to be a reason a child did not have to be scared anymore to come to their appointments. Through a friend, I met some amazing team members from OA, and I knew this job was where I needed to be!

What is your favorite part of your job?

I get to meet with patients at the beginning of their smile process and then at the very end. Seeing a patient go from smiling shy in front of the camera to cheesing ear-to-ear because of their new smile is so rewarding!

What do you want patients (and their parents) to know about their appointments with you?

Your first appointment with us is just like a quick, mini photoshoot! Then, you get the chance to learn all about Invisalign aligners and traditional braces with a treatment coordinator and doctor.

We have pretty much gone away from the horrid, goopy impressions that parents may have experienced when they were kids. Now, we capture 3D impressions of your teeth with our camera-wand iTero scanners from Align Technology. The iTero scan can be used to create a simulated outcome of what your final smile results could look like before you even start orthodontic treatment.

We may scan your teeth several times throughout your treatment for a variety of reasons. We scan at your first appointment so our doctors can see your smile and create your treatment plan. That scan is also used to create and order your Invisalign aligners, if you are an Invisalign patient. Most Invisalign patients need 1-3 rounds of Invisalign aligners, so we will scan you multiple times during treatment to create more aligners.

Near the end of your treatment, we will scan your new smile to make your custom retainers in our in-house lab.

It is so cool to see our Invisalign patients through the entire process and show them before and after photos!

How is the Orthodontic Associates East Edmond office different from the others?

The East Edmond office, located off 2nd street just east of I-35, is our only location with a cool 3D x-ray machine. If you or your child has a tooth going sideways in the gums, an extra tooth (also called a supernumerary), or anything we need a better photo of, we will take the 3D x-ray and our doctors can better plan for what might be needed.

I hope you leave your first appointment with all your questions answered and are excited to come back to our offices to begin your new smile journey!
